Wearable art

In a single word – FUN! All of these Wearable Art products are made with fabrics that are printed with images of my original paintings. No one else has these patterns/fabrics available for their own designs – these are all mine. And yours if you choose to have them!

You’ll find sizes ranging from Women’s X-Small – to X-Large, and also Women’s Plus 1x-3x.  Also, many of the garments are “One Size” – they are mainly quite generous in fit but please measure yourself to ensure a fantastic fit! Size charts with measurements are included for every garment.

No! All the clothing can be machine washed in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not bleach. I always recommend putting the delicate materials (chiffon, silk) in a lingerie bag if you’re going to throw it in the wash – that will protect your Wearable Art from being damaged by buttons or zips on other clothing items. You can put these in the dryer at low temperature, but it’s best to hang to dry if you can – it will preserve your fabrics longer. Iron if necessary at an appropriate temperature – but most of these items are almost wrinkle free. (Shhh secret – I’ve been known to throw a Chiffon Duster in my purse in a ball, pull it out the next day and wear it – no wrinkles to be seen.)

The printers that create this fabric are massive – I couldn’t fit one in my studio – and the seamstresses that sew are highly skilled in their craft. Because I can’t do these things myself, I partner with companies who work to produce my designs for me. Many of the garments and accessories I offer are made right here in Canada – I’ve worked hard to find suppliers that offer great quality at a reasonable price. But because Canada is a limited market – big country, few people – I have had to go offshore to source some of my products. I try to strike a balance between keeping the jobs at “home” and finding the best options for my customers. Wherever they are made, all products are produced in small batches on demand, in ethically run factories who treat their customers and employees with care. If “Canadian made” is a factor in your shopping, please look for the flag on all Canadian made items.

This is not drop shipping. Every single item that I sell is quality checked at the factory before being sent to me, where I do a further quality check. It’s really important to me that you get a beautiful product without defects, so this small amount of additional time and effort is well worth it. Additionally, since I do partner with more than one company, a purchase of multiple items may come from different places. Or I may have stock on hand already in my shop.

I’ve organized my fabric “patterns” into Collections – all garments with a particular pattern are part of that collection. Each Collection has a unique name – why? It’s a simple and effective way to organize things, and you’ll know that if you buy an “Abigail” Collection item – you can buy another product in a few months that will coordinate beautifully. There’s a guide to all the Collections here.
