Art inspired by nature, created with emotion

Contemporary original artwork that speaks to your soul – Art for sale

About the Artist

Driftwood Gallery features the work of Sara Lamond, a Canadian artist who is based in Cape Breton. Sara’s work can be found in private collections on 5 continents – a remarkable achievement for an artist who began exhibiting her mixed media work only in 2022, after leaving Australia to pursue her dream of living life as a full time artist.

Sara is strongly influenced by her environment – you will see the influence of the salt marsh in her work – foggy abstracts, scratchy plants.

More than what you can see though, Sara’s work is filled with the emotions that are evoked by her love of nature. Her hope is that the viewer will “feel” her work.   Read more …

On Buying Art

Buying art can be a confusing process, even intimidating sometimes – maybe you don’t know where to start – you’ve never bought art before. Or you wonder if it is really “good”, or if the gallery is overpricing the work.

Or maybe you visit an artist’s website because you fell in love with a piece on Instagram, you know they have art for sale but there are no prices – anywhere – you have to fill in a form to inquire how much something is … I don’t know how you feel, but to me this is a big turnoff. I immediately think I might not be able to afford it, and I don’t want to “bother” the artist with my silly inquiry. Or, even worse, I assume they are not being consistent in their pricing, and that makes me a little suspicious.

You won’t find that on this site – all of my art for sale is priced here on my website, in my real world shop or at a gallery – at a consistent price. And it’s visible – you know everything you need to make that financial decision.

What’s far more important than the financial aspect though is how you feel about the work. Yes, most of us have budgets we need to work within, but try to put that aside for a moment – when you look at a piece, how do you actually feel? Does it interest you? Do you think that you could spend a long time looking at it and still find new things to enjoy each time? Are there certain emotions that arise when you view the work? Those are the important questions – those are the things that really matter when you are considering adding art to your home.

Then, when you fall in love, and know it can fit your budget, you still wonder if it’s “right” for your home. I can help with that – I show “lifestyle” images of all artwork at the appropriate size in virtual rooms. I can even arrange a personalized virtual consultation with you to see the work in your very own home!

Additional Services

Custom Framing

Custom framing is available for any of my artworks, including originals and reproduction prints. If you love the work but not the frame I’ve shown it in, please reach out – I will help you customize the look to fit perfectly into your home.

Art Placement Consultation

If you’ve fallen in love with a piece, but you’re unsure how it will fit into your home, book an Art Placement session – either in a virtual meeting or in person. I can use a photo of your space (supplied by you) or model rooms to showcase my art pieces with framing options. You’ll see the art in the correct size on your walls – it’s a perfect way to “try before you buy”!

Commissions

It would be my honour to create that perfect piece for your home or office. Of course, working together on a commission is a two way street – we both have to be comfortable with the arrangement. For example I would never accept a commission that I felt was outside my style of working, and you would not want me to try to create a perfect realistic landscape. Please refer to my “Commissions” page for terms and conditions, and reach out for a free consultation if you are interested in working with me.

Payment Plans

If you are considering a larger purchase, I can help out with a payment plan. If available at checkout (Canada only) you can choose to pay with your Afterpay account – your purchase will be shipped out as soon as possible. If you are not able to purchase with Afterpay, I can arrange a payment plan for you – every plan will be different – but there is no interest! In this case I will ship the work when I receive final payment.
