Visit in Person
Hey I know Driftwood Gallery is a little off the beaten path, but I think that’s where the best adventures can be found. Get directions to visit now!
Coming from Sydney?
It’s about 53 kms from the Alexandra Street Roundabout to Driftwood Gallery.
Take the Gabarus Highway NS 327 to Marion Bridge.
NOTE: If you need gas, stop at Church’s Marion Bridge – there isn’t another station for about 100 kms. Friendly folk – they’ll even pump the gas for you!
Travel through Marion Bridge, past Trout Brook Road and keep left at the fork, following signs for Gabarus/Fourchu. (French Road.)
At the end of French Road, take a right, following the sign to Fourchu. As soon as you cross the Richmond county line, the road gets worse so slow down! Especially as you enter Fourchu there is a sharp curve to the right – obeying that 50km speed sign is recommended.
Driftwood Gallery is located on MacDonald Rd – the first road to the right after you enter Fourchu. It is an unpaved road, but we’re only about 130m up – you’ll see the studio from the paved road.
Coming from St Peters?
It’s about 62 kms from the St Peters Canal to Driftwood Gallery.
NOTE: If you’re low on gas, stop in St Peters before you leave – there isn’t another place to get gas for about 100 kms!
From Grenville Street turn right onto NS 247, then left onto the Fleur de Lis trail / St Peters Fourchu Road.
Continue on the Fleur de Lis trail, taking a left to stay on the trail at Lower L’Ardoise.
A nice side trip can be had to Point Michaud Beach if you don’t take that left. It’s a beautiful spot with bathrooms, picnic benches and supervised swimming (sometimes). When leaving, follow the signs to Grand River. This only adds about 5km to your trip – some of this route is unpaved.
Whether you take that left at Lower L’Ardoise or not, you’ll wind up in Grand River – be sure to turn right when you get to the bridge crossing the river to stay on St. Peters Fourchu Road.
Just when you think you’ll never find us in this vast wilderness, you’ll arrive in Framboise, then Fourchu very soon after that. Entering Fourchu, St Peters Fourchu Road turns to the left. There may or may not be a speed sign, they seem to mysteriously disappear… it’s 50km/h.
You’ll pass the community hall, go over the hill and MacDonald Road will be on your left at the bottom of the hill. It’s an unpaved road, but Driftwood Gallery is only about 130m up – you’ll see it from the paved road.
